My name is Alana. I was born and raised in Canada spending the majority of my career in the insurance industry in various positions: Medical Underwriter, Trainer, Subject Matter Expert, Account Manager, etc.  While I enjoyed certain aspects of my roles, the 9-5 structure and sitting for hours on-end really took a toll on my physical, mental and spiritual health.  In 2015 I decided to make a change!

When I first experimented with essential oils, I was thrilled with the results!  With my limited experience in the beginning; I enjoyed learning about - and making - household cleaners, moisturizers, sleep and pain remedies. While it was valuable experience, I was not confident with the conflicting information I was reading on the internet.

My search for highly reputable sources lead me to:  Tisserand Institute and Aromahead Institute; where I gained knowledge on:

  1. Introduction to Essential Oils
  2. How Essential Oils Work in the Body
  3. Aromatherapy for Natural Living: Reduce Allergies Naturally
  4. Reduce Your Clients' Pain Using Aromatherapy

After nearly a year, I finally took the plunge and signed up for the Joyessence Aromatherapy Centre Inc., program (recognized by the Canadian Federation of Aromatherapists (CFA) and National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) to obtain my certification.  The program, which consists of two modules...

  • Module 1: All about essential oils
  • Module 2: Anatomy/Physiology/Pathology well as 30 case studies and a two-part national exam, really broadened my knowledge and experience, and has given me the confidence to help friends and clients.

Knowing that I have the tools to bring someone comfort, relief, and even happiness makes this a very worthwhile and amazing endeavor.  My hope is that you will include aromatherapy as an addition to your healthcare regime.
